UFC 214 takes place on Saturday, July 29 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
The main event features a rematch between current UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier and former champion Jon Jones. The two will be fighting for the second time in their careers with Jones getting the best of Cormier in their first match at UFC 182, winning a unanimous decision after their initial five round title fight.
Ahead of the competition, the stars from UFC 214 attended a press conference on Wednesday and spoke to the media who Jones also fired at during the event.
An MMA journalist was not safe from the war of words after asking Jon Jones how he looks at his 20’s, which was a roller coaster of highs and lows and now being 30-years-old. Jones replied to the journalist, “I don’t really like you Luke, so I’m not going to answer your question.” Even Cormier laughed a bit at the exchange between the athlete and journalist.
Another reporter then went on to ask Cormier about his shift of using social media to talk about the “male genitalia,” after Jones blamed male enhancement pills as the reason he tested positive for banned substances, which got him suspended for a year from competition.
Cormier said that social media is another platform to really get after your opponent.
“He kind of put it out there that that’s what it was and that’s why he didn’t fight last year, so why not make fun it?”
Cormier said that Jones has taken the opportunity to make fun of his downfalls in the Olympics and NCAA wrestling days and the champ stated, “It’s fine because it’s all out there. And, if it’s out there, it’s fair game.
“So, yeah, I make fun of his — limp noodle,” said Cormier with a smile, which even Jones couldn’t help but laugh at the comment.
