Honorio Banario

There is just something about One Championship.

The Singapore-based promotion, which has promoted shows in other Asian countries like Taiwan, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, and most recently, The Philippines, just seems to have a knack for putting together matchups that produce jaw-dropping knockouts and submissions.

The latest spectacular finish to occur under the One Championship banner occurred during the promotion’s latest trip to The Philippines, mentioned above. This finish was authored by the promotion’s first-ever featherweight champ, Honorio Banario. Banario’s victim was Czech talent Jaroslav Jartim. All it took was one punch.

Mid-way through the second round, Banario followed a checked kick with a blistering, left hook to Jartim’s jaw. And that was that. Jartim plummeted to the supine position, batteries removed, as Banario celebrated to the roar of thousands of his Filipino countrymen.

With this highlight reel win, Banario moves onto a four-fight streak, having recently picked up decision wins over Vaughn Donayre and Eddie Ng, and an impressive armbar over Rajinder Singh Meena. With this latest win, he has probably lined himself up for another featherweight title shot – though this honor could also go to fellow former champ Jadamba Narantungalag. The One featherweight title is currently owned by Russia’s Marat Gafurov.

With this thudding, knockout defeat, Jartim will return to the Czech Republic with a tough 8-6-1 overall record.
