VIDEO | Floyd Mayweather steps into the cage, once again teases move to MMA

By Tom Taylor - January 30, 2018

Floyd Mayweather sure knows how to keep himself in the headlines.

Late last year, the undefeated (and retired?) boxer created a maelstrom of buzz when he suggested he was in talks with the UFC about a potential MMA career.

“I can come right back,” Mayweather said during an Instagram live video. “If I want to, I can come right back to the UFC. I can go fight in the Octagon. I can do a three or four-fight deal in the Octagon and make a billion dollars. Remember, I’m Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather, and you motherfu*kers love me, and I love you motheru*kers.”

UFC President Dana White then thrust these rumors into overdrive, confirming that the promotion had indeed been in talks with Mayweather.

“We’re talking to Floyd about doing a UFC deal,” White told ESPN’s Brett Okamoto. “It’s real. He was talking about [boxing] Conor McGregor. Was that real? Have you heard Floyd talk about many things that aren’t real? He usually tips his hand when he’s in the media and then that s— ends up happening.”

Since then, the boxing legend has effectively stomped the life out of these rumors, but his latest Instagram post is likely to resuscitate the conversation like a pair of defibrillators hooked up to a car battery. In this post, Mayweather can be seen walking into a mixed martial arts cage, testing the bounce of the canvas. See it at the top of this article.

What do you think of this Instagram post from Floyd Mayweather? Could he be training for a move to MMA?
