Nine years ago yesterday, Urijah Faber submitted Dominick Cruz at WEC 26 to defend the WEC featherweight championship.

Little did anyone know that the pair’s rivalry would stay fierce over the next 9 years, and carry into the UFC. When the pair met for the second time under the UFC banner in 2011, it was Cruz who was given the nod as he picked up a unanimous decision win.

Now, the pair are slated to fight in a trilogy bout3 in the co-main event of UFC 199 for Cruz’s UFC bantamweight championship.

Faber took to Instagram to reflect on his win over Cruz 9 years ago.
