UFC on FOX 22 Results: Colby Covington defeats Bryan Barberena (Highlights)

A welterweight bout between Bryan Barberena and Colby Covington took place during today’s UFC on FOX 22 prelims in Sacramento, California.

Round one begins and Colby throws a high kick that is partially blocked. Bryan fires back with a low kick and then another. Covington misses with a left and then shoots in for a takedown attempt. Colby has a hold of a single leg and drags Bryan to the floor. Barberena fights his way back to his feet but Colby drags him right back down. Bryan once again pops back up but Colby is quick to put him back down. Covington tries to sink in a hook but Bryan scrambles and gets back up. Colby has Bryan presses against the cage and unloads a right. He then shoots in and scores another takedown. However, Bryan instantly pops back up to his feet. He throws an elbow from the clinch and breaks free. Covington throws a right hand and then a head kick. He shoots in for another takedown but Bryan stuffs the attempt. Colby has Barberena pressed against the fence but Bryan is able to shake free and land a jab. Colby lands a nice left hand and then an uppercut. Round one comes to an end.

Round two begins and Covington throws a combination and then shoots in and lands an early takedown. Bryan quickly fights his way back to his feet but Colby has his back with double under hooks. Bryan is able to break free of the position and circles out. Bryan comes forward with punches and lands a left. Colby counters with a nice right hand. Covington with a body kick and then a hard combination. He rocks Bryan with a left. Colby shoots in and scores an easy takedown. He immediately works to take the back of Barberena and sinks in one hook. Covington begins unloading some left hands. Bryan gets back to his feet and breaks free. Covington quickly shoots in and lands another takedown. He sinks in one hook and begins working some short left hands. Barberena is able to stand back up but Colby is all over him. Barberenabreaks free and lands a nice left hand. Covington with a left and then shoots in for another takedown. This time Bryan stuffs the attempt. Round two comes to an end.

Round three begins and Barberena charges forward with punches. Colby circles out and comes forward with a combination of his own. He ducks under a Bryan punch and then scores another takedown. Barberena is able to get back to his feet but is pressed against the cage. Knees inside from both fighters. They break and Bryan landa jab. Covington shoots in and scores another takedown. Again, Barberena is quickly able to scramble back to his feet and the fighters battle against the cage. They break and exchange jabs. Colby goes to the body with a kick. He lands a nice combination. Bryan replies with a jab. Two minutes remain. Covington gets a hold of Barberena and presses him against the cage. They break and trade punches. Colby shoots in and lands another takedown. He begins working some shots from full guard. Round three comes to an end.
