UFC Fight Night 98 Results: Alexa Grasso defeats Heather Jo Clark

A women’s strawweight bout between Heather Jo Clark and Alexa Grasso kicked off tonight’s UFC Fight Night 98 main card in Mexico City.

Round one begins and Grasso lands a low kick but eats a combo from Clark. Heather with a leg kick. She charges forward and presses Alexa against the cage. Grasso is able to shake her off and break free. Alexa with a high kick that is partially blocked. Clark misses with an attempted front kick. Grasso with a leg kick. She retreats and Heather presses forward with a combo. Clark lands a right hand. A nice body kick lands for Grasso. Clark drops but gets back up. A big knee lands for Alexa. She charges after Clark with punches. She is landing here. Clark responds but it definitely hurt. Alexa presses Heather against the fence and unloads some punches and knees. Grasso has Clark’s nose busted up. Heather breaks free and circles away. Alexa with a kick to the body of Clark. She comes forward and lands a beautiful combination that finishes with a head kick. Clark grabs a hold of Alexa and presses her against the cage. Round one comes to an end.

Round two begins and Clark opens things up with a leg kick. Alexa is being patient here looking for an opening. Grasso with a leg kick. She misses with an attempted kick to the body. She throws another one and it lands but Heather catches the kick and presses her up against the cage. Clark is looking for a takedown here. Grasso says no to that and reverses the position. Grasso with some short shots and some knees inside. Clark jumps up for a guillotine but it is not there. Grasso lands a knee. The fighters break and Clark lands a low kick. She charges forward and looks for a takedown. Grasso drops down and searches for a triangle choke and then a armbar. Neither is there. She stands back up and round two comes to an end.

Round three begins and Grasso lands a nice kick to the body as Clark presses forward. Heather presses Alexa against the cage. Grasso reverses the position and scores a body lock. She takes Heather down but Grasso does not follow her to the floor. Heathr stands up and eats a jab from Alexa. Grasso is circling well and landing her jab. Heather lands a right hand and then a kick. Alexa responds with a leg kick and then another. A nice right hand scores for Grasso. Heather replies with a right of her own. She presses Alexa against the fence. Grasso reverses the position and scores a nice takedown. Round three comes to an end.
