UFC 205 medical suspensions

This past Saturday in New York, the UFC hosted its inaugural event at the Madison Square Garden.

The event was an action packed one from the start, with things quickly picking up on the main card as Vicente Luque and Tim Boetsch both picked up back to back first round TKO/KO wins to kick off the televised prelims. In the preliminary co-main event, Khabib Nurmagomedov picked up yet another win, extending his professional record to 24-0, with his UFC record now at 8-0. In the preliminary main event, former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar returned the the win column following his UFC 200 interim featherweight title loss to Jose Aldo as he picked up an impressive unanimous decision win over Jeremy Stephens.

On the pay-per view portion of the card, Miesha Tate suffered a loss and subsequently retired from MMA, while Yoel Romero was crowned the #1 contender at middleweight as he picked up a devastating 3rd round KO win over Chris Weidman. In the first of three title fights Joanna Jedrzejczyk successfully defended her strawweight championship against Karolina Kowalkiewicz. In the co-main event, Tyron Woodley defended his welterweight championship in a fight with Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson that was ultimately scored as a majority draw, and will result in a rematch between the two. In the main event, UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor successfully moved up to lightweight to claim the UFC lightweight championship as he TKOd Eddie Alvarez in the second round.

Vicente Luque suspended indefinitely pending New York State Athletic Commission clearance

Chris Weidman suspended a minimum 60 days pending New York State Athletic
Commission clearance

Belal Muhammad suspended a minimum 60 days pending New York State Athletic Commission clearance

Rafael Natal suspended a minimum 60 days pending New York State Athletic Commission clearance

Eddie Alvarez suspended a minimum 30 days pending New York State Athletic Commission clearance

Stephen Thompson suspended a minimum 30 days pending New York State Athletic Commission clearance

Joanna Jedrzczyk suspended 30 days

Karolina Kowalkiewicz suspended 30 days
Meisha Tate suspended a minimum 30 days pending New York State Athletic Commission clearance

Michael Johnson suspended 30 days

Jim Miller suspended a minimum 30 days pending New York State Athletic Commission clearance

Liz Carmouche suspended a minimum 30 days pending New York State Athletic Commission clearance

Fighters not listed above received the minimum mandatory 7-day suspension, and will be eligible to fight again in one week.
