This Saturday, the Octagon will return to beautiful Manchester, England with UFC 204.
In buildup to this hotly anticipated return to the English Isle, the UFC has released the first UFC 204 themed instalment of its popular web-series, Embedded. The episode follows the card’s top fighters as they make their final preparations for battle.
UFC 204’s main event will see new middleweight champion Michael Bisping attempt to avenge the ugliest loss of his career opposite 46-year-old American veteran Dan Henderson.
Bisping won the UFC’s middleweight crown in early June, when he shocked the world with a first-round knockout of Luke Rockhold. Given that Bisping had stepped up to replace an injured Chris Weidman on just a few weeks notice, and that he’d been dominated by Rockhold just a few years earlier, this title win would go down as one of the biggest upsets in recent memory. Henderson, meanwhile, resuscitated his fading career earlier that same night, scoring a wild knockout win over former Bellator middleweight king Hector Lombard.
UFC 204’s co-main event will see Gegard Mousasi take on Vitor Belfort in a compelling middleweight showdown.
Mousasi, who has been calling for this matchup since his time under the Affliction banner, will step onto the canvas with back-to-back wins over Thales Leites and Thiago Santos behind him. Belfort, meanwhile, will look to rebound from a first-round TKO loss to top contender Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza. The Brazilian his 3-2 in his last 5, with two of those wins coming against the aforementioned Henderson.
UFC 204’s main card will also feature a light heavyweight showdown between strikers Jimi Manuwa and Ovince St. Preux, a heavyweight showdown between the towering Stefan Struve and late replacement Daniel Omielanczuk, and a featherweight showdown between the streaking Mirsad Bektic and last-minute replacement Russell Doane.
The undercard, finally, will feature some of the top talent from England, larger Europe, and the world over.
