The Chael Sonnen vs. Tito Ortiz light heavyweight fight was announced three days ago by Bellator officials.
Chael Sonnen signed a multi-fight deal with Bellator MMA last month. “The American Gangster” has not competed inside the cage since suffering a TKO loss to Rashad Evans at UFC 167.
Sonnen’s most recent win came in August of 2013 when he submitted Mauricio “Shogun” Rua with a guillotine choke at UFC Fight Night 26.
Meanwhile, former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz most recently competed at Bellator 142 where he suffered a submission loss to Liam McGeary in his bid for the promotions 205-pound strap.
Prior to the setback, “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” had scored back-to-back victories over Stephan Bonnar and Alexander Shlemenko respectively.
The Sonnen vs. Ortiz bout will headline Bellator 170 which takes place January 21 live from The Forum in Los Angeles.
