This past Saturday Sage Northcutt suffered the first loss of his professional career at the hands of Bryan Barberena.

Dana White unhappy

Northcutt immediately caught criticism from many fans and fellow fighters for what they believed to be a premature tap. Surprisingly, Northcutt remained as optimistic as ever and even announced that he would be training full time at Tristar gym moving forward.

It was also revealed that Northcutt had been hospitalized with strep throat leading up to the bout, however Bryan Barberena wasn’t too pleased to hear his excuses.

UFC President Dana White joined “The Neighborhood” to discuss why he is shouldering the blame for Northcutt’s loss.

“The kid was super sick and he still wanted to fight. His father said, ‘listen we still want to take the fight, we still want to take the fight.’ I should have pulled the kid from the fight. He’s 19 years old, he fought three times in [four] months. I should have pulled the kid from the fight.”

“The kid really wanted to fight and I let him fight. He was sick as hell. I blew it.”
