Following Rory MacDonald’s unanimous decision loss to Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson last month, it was revealed that MacDonald would be testing free agency given that his UFC contract was up.

Earlier this month, news surfaced that MacDonald and his management team were in negotiations with Bellator MMA. While nothing has been made official, Bellator MMA President Scott Coker revealed that negotiations are going well.

He spoke to MMAJunkie:

“We are in talks with his management. There’s nothing imminent right now. We’re just in discussions, and discussions are going well.”

“He’s somebody that we’d be interested in, but can we come to a deal? I’m not sure,” Coker said. “But I know the guys back home are on it, and hopefully we’ll have a decision one way or another soon, and we’ll find out where he’s going to fight.”
