Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has upped her competition once again outside of the cage. Rousey is one of three models to grace the cover of the 2016 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition. For the first time in the magazine’s popular issue, three different covers were released by SI.
MJ Day, Editor for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit posted a photo last month of a model’s painted backside to her personal Instagram account. Die hard fans of Rousey noticed the small tattoos on the model’s wrist, which leaked the information that it was in fact, Rousey doing the shoot for Sports Illustrated.
While fans of Ronda Rousey could not be happier to see the former champion gracing the cover of the new issue, not everyone was impressed by Sports Illustrated’s decision to use Rousey on one of the three versions of the cover. Talk show host Wendy Williams went on an absolute roast of Rousey’s looks, while giving praise to Ashley Graham, who is the first plus-size model to be featured on the SI cover.
While Williams has her right to her own opinion, fans of Rousey will be glad to see more of “Rowdy.” Rousey posted two more stunning photos from her shoot to her Instagram account.
Rousey said of her experience, “So I did Swimsuit the year before, of course, I wanted to do it again. They said they are offering all the athletes to do body paint with Joanne Gair, who did that famous picture of Demi Moore in the body painted suit. She is brilliant, she is a master of her trade and so I thought it was a real honor to be her canvas for once.”
