Ronda Rousey has moved on from the UFC and an MMA career to pursue a new chapter in the WWE, but her accomplishments in MMA and before that in judo can never be forgotten. Today, she was honored for those acheivements alongside her mother. After making her debut at the Royal Rumble, the organization has done a great job at hyping up her presence as their new superstar. The news is still everywhere. Former queen of the UFC Ronda Rousey is now the latest WWE superstar. She’s moved on to make big moves in another arena of sports entertainment. One UFC welterweight who isn’t a stranger to the theatrics of pro wrestling or the ring itself, is Colby Covington. He’s walked the ends of the Earth calling out Tyron Woodley, even on air at Impact Wrestling after he and American Top Team co-founder invaded the promotion with teammates. Not only does the controversial fighter support Rousey’s move, but wants to follow in her footsteps. “I think it was a great move for [Ronda Rousey]. She wasn’t gonna win anymore fights, so she’s gotta do something that she can win in, so maybe pro wrestling’s that. I think it was a great move. I think she’s done well for herself and she’s gonna make some good money over there. The thing is, I hope she don’t f-ck it up for the MMA fighters, because I’m the people following in those footsteps. I’ma be over there in WWE, taking the world title soon. I hope she doesn’t act all shy and do all that weird stuff, you know? She needs to be who she is and who she used to be in the UFC when she was the champ.”

Last year, Conor McGregor lit two worlds on fire with his multi-multi-million dollar crossover boxing match with Floyd Mayweather. He sailed the seven seas in yachts and set up multiple business ventures, but now he’s slowly but surely entering back into the public eye and hopefully the world of combat sports. This year, it’s Ronda Rousey who is on fire as she finally debuted as the newest WWE superstar. After being asked about the deal, the UFC’s ‘champ champ’ offered up words of praise, respect and congratulations to one gigantic superstar to another. “I’m delighted for [Ronda Rousey]. Absolutely over the moon for her. She looked like she really enjoyed herself at the event and I was very, very happy to see her. She’s a pioneer for the game and she’s came through it all and faced big wins and big, big losses and she came through it. It’s great to see her represent herself and mixed martial arts and have fun in the WWE. I know she’s been a big fan of it all her life. In the wake of last weekend’s UFC Charlotte card, the UFC has adjusted its official rankings. The biggest shakeup this time surrounds Former UFC middleweight and welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre’s ejection from the middleweight rankings. Given that St-Pierre is not expected to fight again for quite some time – if ever – his ejection from the middleweight rankings makes some sense. Contrary to this logic, however, Ronda Rousey, who is now a full-time pro wrestler for WWE, is still ranking at women’s bantamweight. Why? Who knows…

At the end of the month, one of the biggest women’s MMA fights of all-time will go down at UFC 219. Holly Holm will step into the Octagon to challenge Cris Cyborg for her women’s UFC featherweight title. A huge fight like this with such high stakes hearkens back to when Holm fought Ronda Rousey and finished her to become the women’s bantamweight champion in Australia. That feeling can’t help but conjure up images for Tito Ortiz of the fight that never was — Cris Cyborg versus Ronda Rousey —  and he thinks the fans deserve to have that happen. “I think the fans deserve [the fight between Cris Cyborg and Ronda Rousey]. Cris deserves it, and for sure I think Ronda deserves it after everything she’s said about Cris. If you’re ever gonna’ talk about somebody, at least step in the cage and try to prove yourself. But she’s afraid to do it, I understand. There’s many women who are afraid to fight Cris, and I’d just say the proof is in the pudding of how dangerous Cris truly is. If that fight’s in front of her it shows that UFC are able to once again put a great, huge fight together.”

She got married to UFC heavyweight Travis Browne, is releasing multiple business ventures including her own website, and she’s been all over the WWE Universe. It hasn’t been an accident. Even when she was supporting her best friend Shayna Baszler’s introduction into the professional wrestling promotion, it all felt like it was building towards something. Now, it looks like the deal is done. Two people close to Rousey told USA TODAY Sports that she is finalizing details of her move to WWE. She was the picture of dominance, destroying whoever the UFC threw at her with apparent ease, from Miesha Tate, to Cat Zingano to Bethe Correia. Then, it all came crashing down. After being knocked senseless by a Holly Holm head kick, Rousey retreated into the shadows for over a year. And after being clobbered by Amanda Nunes in her long-awaited comeback fight, there is now real doubt that she’ll ever fight again.
