Joe Rogan says that Rafael dos Anjos might be the best lightweight ever

It was an answer to a question that sparked a lot of arguments on Twitter and likely one that will have a lot of fans on BJPENN.COM debate about as well. A fan asked UFC color commentator Joe Rogan, “@joerogan do you think the size of Dos Anjos will be to much for McGregor?”

Rogan responded to the question saying, “There’s a good argument that @RdosAnjosMMA is the best LW ever, and if @TheNotoriousMMA beats him it’ll be insane.”

It will indeed be insane if UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor can overcome lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 196 on March 5. If McGregor can take the lightweight belt from dos Anjos, he will be the first fighter in UFC history to simultaneously hold two division’s titles.

Rafael dos Anjos is looking to put all those talks of McGregor being a two-weight UFC champion to an end. Dos Anjos has gone on record to say that he would like to build his own name and legacy to be amongst the greats such as Hall of Fame legend BJ Penn. Dos Anjos will have the opportunity to bring his stock way up with a convincing win over the UFC’s big draw, McGregor.

However, “Mystic Mac” has had a knack for predicting his fights and how they would end. McGregor also predicted that he would become a two-weight world champion in the UFC.

Interestingly McGregor’s coach, John Kavanagh also believes that his star will become more than just a two weight world champion. Kavanagh has said, “BJ Penn’s accomplishment was impressive at lightweight and welterweight though. There is an argument that he could’ve done it at featherweight had the division been around longer, but he is done now. I can see Conor doing it at three weight classes anyway.”
“Everyone in the UFC is an ideal opponent for Conor. They really don’t have any idea what’s coming for them. It doesn’t matter if it’s a smothering wrestling style or dynamic striking or submission style.”

If Rafael dos Anjos beats Conor McGregor on March 5, where do you think he ranks among the best of the lightweights? Share your opinion on Rogan’s comment!
