Paul Felder appears to hint at main event showdown with James Vick

By Tom Taylor - April 23, 2018

Originally, lightweight striking specialist Paul Felder was expected to battle Al Iaquinta at UFC 223. When Iaquinta was called upon for a last-minute title fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov, however, Felder was left without a fight.

From the looks of it, the UFC could be rewarding Felder for his trouble. On Sunday afternoon, the lightweight took to Instagram with a not-so-subtle suggestion that he’s been offered a fight with James Vick in the main event of an upcoming fight night.

If Felder is indeed hinting at an upcoming main event showdown with James Vick, it’s hard to say which card the fight would land on.

The UFC’s May 19 debut in Chile, of course, recently lost its Santiago Ponzinibbio vs. Kamaru Usman main event, and is looking quite depleted as a result. Putting two Americans in the new UFC Chile main event, however, wouldn’t seem to make a ton of sense. This fight could also headlined the UFC’s upcoming debut in Boise, Idaho, which recently got its first three fights. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Paul Felder, who is ranked 14th at lightweight, is currently on a three-fight win-streak composed of victories Alessandro Ricci, Stevie Ray, and most recently, Charles Oliveira. All of these wins have come by knockout or TKO. Felder is 15-3 overall.

Vick, meanwhile, is riding four-straight wins. These wins have come against Abel Trujillo, Marco Polo Reyes, Joseph Duffy, and most recently, Francisco Trinaldo. He’s ranked 11th at lightweight. He is currently 13-1 in sum.

Does a fight between Paul Felder and James Vick interest you? Which card would you like to see this fight land on?
