Paige VanZant comments on Luke Rockhold and Demi Lovato dating: ‘I dunno about that’
Rising UFC star Paige VanZant put on a great showing in her fight against Bec Rawlings at UFC on FOX 21 over the weekend.
The former “Dancing with the Stars” finalist made a highlight reel KO with Rawlings and spoke with Ariel Helwani on Monday’s episode of The MMA Hour.
“My favorite celeb tweet was from Nick Jonas,” VanZant said of the many congratulations sent her way after the big win. “Demi Lovato texted me and said congratulations.”
Lovato’s name was buzzing in MMA headlines last week when it was revealed that she and former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold have been dating.
“I dunno about that (Rockhold dating Lovato). We will see.”
“I had heard I was dating an NFL player (JJ Watt) who I had never met in person, so you gotta second guess these things.”
Regarding her fight, “12 Gauge” says that she ran into some issues with the fight being in Canada, but it all ended up working out with the result they were looking for.
“One thing was I took the fight without really telling anyone in the gym, and both of my cornermen couldn’t get into Canada. For whatever reason, Canada didn’t want them in the country (laughs).”
“So I got a new corner a few days before the fight. A teammate of mine got injured so I was able to use some of his cornermen.”
“(My) Coach Owen is my only consistent cornerman, I’ve used him three times. It’s just worked out that way. I threw things when my corner told me to throw it.”
