The UFC made it official this weekend that Covington and Woodley will throw down on September 19. The two will meet in a five-round main event at a UFC Fight Night card in Las Vegas. For these two rivals who have been champing at the bit to punch each other in the face for the last few years, this matchup has been a long time coming, to say the least.

UFC president Dana White reacted to the news that boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya is coming out of retirement. De La Hoya, who is now 47, recently announced that he is making a comeback to boxing after 12 years away from competing. His last fight came in 2008 when he was stopped via corner stoppage to Manny Pacquiao. Since then he has been a promoter for Golden Boy, which has held both boxing and MMA events. Although he’s getting up there in age now, the fire to fight again still burns deep inside him, and that’s why he wants to fight again.

The sources asked for anonymity since the news hasn’t been officially confirmed yet. No word yet on the official location, but the two 185-pound fighters are expected to lock horns on November 14 in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the UFC APEX facility.

On September 5, Alistair Overeem looks to continue his march towards a heavyweight title shot when he taking on the surging Augusto Sakai. On September 12, two of the best light heavyweights in the UFC in Glover Teixeira and Thiago Santos go at it. And on September 19, the grudge match between Colby Covington and Tyron Woodley finally goes down. All three of these UFC cards are set to take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Poirier is coming off of a huge win over Dan Hooker back in June in a “Fight of the Year” candidate, while Ferguson is coming off of a TKO loss to Justin Gaethje at UFC 249 in a failed bid to become the interim lightweight champion. Despite that loss, Ferguson remains an elite fighter at 155lbs.

Edgar was able to edge out a split decision over Munhoz is a closely-contested fight that went the full 25 minutes. Both men were able to land big shots on each other over the course of the five rounds, but when it was all over two of the judges sided with Edgar and gave him the victory over Munhoz in what was his official UFC bantamweight debut.

In a highly controversial split decision that left many fans and media scratching their heads, Edgar was able to edge out the victory over Munhoz to put himself on the map in a third weight class in his UFC career. Some suggested that the win means Edgar could jump ahead of the other top contenders at 135lbs like Aljamain Sterling for the next title shot against UFC bantamweight champion Petr Yan, but White shot down those suggestions.
