By Russell Ess - December 28, 2015

With the new weigh in rules that ONE FC will implement in 2016 and look to change the landscape of the sport of mixed martial arts, ONE FC welterweight champion Ben Askren has revealed that he will be changing weight classes due to the new rule.

Askren spoke with MMA Latest and talked about his decision to fight in a new weight class, and what he thinks of the new rules.

“185 is a little bigger than perfect for me, but I can make it work,” Askren said. “That’s no big deal.”

Askren said he typically walks around at about 183-185 to dehydrate and cut to 170-pounds comfortably. With the new rule changes in the organization he fights in set to take place in the new year, that will all change.

Do you think the new weigh in rules being implemented by ONE FC will take the sport of MMA in a better and safer direction? Share your thoughts on the issues in the comments!
