Back in September, after more than six years away from mixed martial arts, Nick Diaz returned to the UFC with a highly-anticipated rematch against Robbie Lawler. Diaz came up on the losing end and while he did have some nice moments in the first few rounds, he ultimately didn’t look like himself in there.

Harry Kettle - December 9, 2021

Kevin Holland has confirmed that he’s interested in the idea of taking on MMA veteran Nick Diaz in his next fight. Things haven’t exactly gone to plan for Kevin Holland since the start of 2021. He went from 5-0 last year to 0-2 with one no contest since March, completing a pretty dramatic fall from grace. His plan now seems to be a shift down to welterweight but if that doesn’t happen, he’s also open to staying at middleweight for a bout with a very specific opponent – Nick Diaz.

Jorge Masvidal questions why Nick Diaz is still fighting, brings up the IRS

Adam D Martin - November 15, 2021

UFC welterweight contender Jorge Masvidal questioned why Nick Diaz is still fighting, bringing up the IRS as a potential reason as to why. Diaz returned from a six-year layoff at UFC 266 in September, losing in the third round via TKO to longtime rival Robbie Lawler. For Diaz, it was a losing effort, and Masvidal is questioning why he even came back in the first place. Not only did Diaz not win the fight, but he also showed up fight week too heavy to make welterweight, forcing the fight to be moved up to middleweight. That has led to speculation among fans, fighters, and media as to why Diaz returned to the cage, and Masvidal believes it could be financially related.

Nick Diaz offers to step up on short notice against Leon Edwards

Adam D Martin - November 11, 2021

UFC legend Nick Diaz is offering to step up on short notice against Leon Edwards after Jorge Masvidal pulled out of their upcoming fight. Edwards was scheduled to fight against Masvidal at UFC 269, which is set to take place on December 11 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. However, Masvidal was forced to pull out of the fight due to an injury, and now Edwards doesn’t have an opponent to fight. We have seen a number of fellow welterweight contenders such as Khamzat Chimaev, Belal Muhammad, and Gilbert Burns throw their names into the hat to get the fight with Edwards, but so far, the UFC has not booked him against a new opponent. It’s potentially because a new name has entered the mix, as the elder Diaz wants to fight Edwards next.

Adam D Martin - October 8, 2021

UFC Hall of Famer Georges St-Pierre weighed in on the performance of Nick Diaz at UFC 266, saying that “for sure he was rusty.” After more than six years away from the Octagon, Diaz returned to the Octagon last month when he fought rival Robbie Lawler in a rematch that was 17 years in the making. After Diaz knocked out Lawler back at UFC 47 in 2004, the two rematched all these years later, with Diaz losing in the third round via TKO. It was a good performance overall by both fighters, who were praised by UFC president Dana White for their war, but Diaz still didn’t do enough to get his hand raised. If you ask St-Pierre, ring rust played a factor in that.

Henry Cejudo calls for Nick Diaz vs. Robbie Lawler trilogy fight

What's next for the stars of UFC 266?

Cole Shelton - September 27, 2021

The UFC was back in front of a full capacity crowd at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada for a stacked UFC 266 card. Conor McGregor takes a shot at Nate Diaz's "piss" boxing skills, says Nick Diaz is on "another level"

Adam Martin - September 26, 2021

UFC superstar Conor McGregor took a shot at Nate Diaz’s “piss” boxing skills, saying that his brother Nick Diaz is on “another level.” McGregor evidently watched UFC 266 as Nick Diaz took on Robbie Lawler in a grudge match rematch 17 years in the making. Although Diaz ended up losing via third-round TKO, he did display his trademark boxing skills during the contest, as he landed 150 significant strikes on Lawler during the two-plus that the fight went. It seems as though McGregor noticed the work that Diaz did with his hands in the loss. Taking to his social media the day after UFC 266, McGregor praised Nick Diaz for his boxing skills while criticizing Nate Diaz for his. As far as McGregor goes, the older Diaz brother has far better boxing skills. The Irishman also used his tweet as an opportunity to tell the younger Diaz he “made” him.
