Matt Brown had a rough time, to say the least, while in Brazil for UFC 198.

Brown battled with the fans at the UFC 198 weigh-ins and during his walk out to the Octagon. Then, Demian Maia showed his world-class ground skills by submitting Brown in their bout setting “The Immortal” back in his goal of winning UFC gold. To top things off in Curitiba, Brown was allegedly attacked at his hotel by Rodrigo Botti, a former trainer of his.

Brown was able to make a humorous statement following the rough time in Brazil with a post on Instagram with he and Maia posed for a photo after their fight. Brown said in his caption, “I’ve finally made it back to the US alive and well! Wasn’t sure if that was going to happen but here I am! 😂😂 Once more thanks to @demian_maia for the lesson in BJJ and thanks to Brazil for making the weekend exciting! Even though I lost I feel one step closer to being the best fighter I can be. I am not going to stop grinding for that gold and I will not let this slow me down even a little bit. I’m just getting started my friends.”
