Joanna Jedrzejczyk attempting to step in and fight Valentina Shevchenko

In a surprising turn of events, after UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes was pulled from her UFC 213 main event scrap with Amanda Nunes tonight in Las Vegas, UFC women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk, who is teammates with Amanda Nunes at American Top Team, is now attempting to convince UFC President Dana White to allow her to step in on short notice to fight Valentina Shevchenko.

White posted about the situation on Instagram:

Jedrzejczyk then posted to Instagram herself, in an attempt to convince White to help her in clearing the necessary hurdles in order to fight on less than 12 hours notice:

It is important to note that Shevchenko and Jedrzejczyk have competed several times before in Muay Thai, however the pair have never fought in MMA.
