Gokhan Saki announces his UFC debut date and gets an opponent

The highly anticipated UFC debut of kickboxing star Gokhan Saki has been announced.

Saki, who is considered one of the best kickboxers in the world announced on social media that he will be making his UFC debut in Japan at the UFC Fight Night 117 event at Saitama Super Arena, which takes place on September 23. The UFC announced that Saki will meet Henrique da Silva in the Octagon where Mauricio Rua and Ovince Saint Preux will fight in a rematch as the main event.

Saki posted the following message on social media on Friday:

ANNOUNCEMENT MY UFC DEBUT IN UFC JAPAN!

You wanted me, now you got me. I’m going to give my fans a knockout and my haters a shut the fuck up!

Saki holds an 83-16 kickboxing record and is 0-1 in professional mixed martial arts. Saki fought his only pro MMA fight 13 years ago where he lost to James Zikic by TKO. Saki’s last combat sports bout was a kickboxing match back in 2015 where he defeated Sebastian Ciobanu at GFC Fight Series 3 in Dubai by unanimous decision.

Henrique da Silva holds a 12-4 professional mixed martial arts record and is 2-3 in the UFC. Da Silva started off winning his first two UFC fights but has lost his last three bouts and will look to welcome Saki to the Octagon by serving him his first UFC loss. Da Silva last fought in June at UFC Fight Night 100 where he was knocked out by Ion Cutelaba in the first round.
