Edson Barboza vs. Gilbert Melendez reportedly set for UFC on FOX 20

At UFC 197 Edson Barboza picked up the biggest win of his professional career as he defeated former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis via unanimous decision.

The win was a dominant one for Barboza, as he out-struck Showtime throughout the course of the fight, dealing a severe amount of damage to Pettis’ legs throughout the 3 round bout.

Now, Globo is reporting that Barboza will look to build on the win as he faces former Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez at UFC on FOX 20 in Chicago on July 23rd.

Melendez is coming off a controversial split decision loss to Eddie Alvarez at UFC 188, that saw the former UFC title challenger placed on the sidelines for a year after failing a post-fight drug test.

If this bout is official, expect an announcement from the UFC shortly.
