Joanne Calderwood opens up on training with Georges St-Pierre

Tonight on the main card of ‘UFC Fight Night: Ottawa’, TUF 20 competitor Joanne Calderwood will square off against former strawweight title challenger Valerie Letourneau in a UFC women’s featherweight fight. The fight will be Calderwood’s first in almost exactly a year.

Ahead of the fight, she spoke to DailyMail to discuss the impact former welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre has had on her training at Tristar gym:

“He’s great and he’s so humble and it’s great to work with him,’ said Calderwood. ‘He’s also a really good coach, he tells you tiny details and he can also give you examples of when it’s not worked for him in a fight or when it has worked for him.”

“It’s great because then we can go back and study his fights and say “oh yeah, so that’s what we did today.”

“It’s really inspiring, and obviously he’s been in there and done it himself, and he’s a legend, so it’s so motivating to train with him.”
