Shortly after this fight was made official, the challenger Frankie Edgar took to Instagram with a quick reaction to the big news. In his post, Edgar chose to quote a line from the Action Bronson song Actin’ Crazy.

“Opportunity be knocking, gotta let a motherfucker in,” Edgar said in his post.

Frankie Edgar will enter this fight with Max Holloway on a two-fight streak, having rebounded from a second failed featherweight title fight opposite former champ Jose Aldo with a decision defeat of Jeremy Stephens and a doctor stoppage against red hot Mexican prospect Yair Rodriguez. The former UFC lightweight champ, Edgar is 22-5-1 overall and 7-2 at featherweight, with both of his losses coming to Aldo. At 36, this could well be his last shot at UFC gold.

Holloway, meanwhile, will step into the Octagon at UFC 218 on a crazy, 11-fight streak. He won the title back in June, with a TKO defeat of Jose Aldo. He earned his title shot with triumphs over a procession of killers such as Anthony Pettis, Ricardo Lamas, Jeremy Stephens, Charles Oliveira, Cub Swanson, Cole Miller, Akira Corassani and Andre Fili. He has not lost since a 2013 decision defeat to reigning lightweight champion Conor McGregor. Currently ranked number four on the UFC pound-for-pound list, he is 18-3 overall.

UFC 218 goes down on December 2 in Detroit, Michigan.
