With the historic UFC 205 looking like it is having a hard time being put together, New Jersey’s Frankie Edgar announced his spot at UFC 205. “The Answer” posted a promotional piece featuring a featherweight bout between Jeremy Stephens and himself, set for November 12 at Madison Square Garden.

Edgar captioned his post with excitement saying, “Boom! MSG Let’s gooooo! #UFC205”

Edgar is coming off an interim featherweight title fight against Jose Aldo. The two met for the second time in the Octagon where Aldo was able to outpoint the former lightweight champion, taking a unanimous decision victory at UFC 200 in July. Prior to the bout with Aldo, Edgar was on a hot streak in the featherweight division. “The Answer” picked up 5 wins in a row after losing to Aldo in their first meeting at 156 in 2013.

Edgar recently told Ariel Helwani that he would be willing to drop down to 135 for a title fight, but it seems that the featherweight bout against Stephens was the fight to make at this time.

“Lil’ Heathen” is coming off a win over former UFC bantamweight champion Renan Barao where Stephens was able to edge out a unanimous three round decision over the Brazilian. Stephens has been hot and cold since dropping from lightweight down to the featherweight division where he has gone 5-3. Prior to the win over Barao, Stephens fell short against Max Holloway, who won a unanimous decision.

Stephens followed his fans request and called Edgar out on video in July. “Frankie Edgar, tough as f—ing nails and me, vicious as ever,” Stephens said. “I feel like we could put on a great, great, great fight. I think we’ll bring out the best in each other and it’s what the fans want. Let’s give it to ’em. I’m thinking I can come to the east coast, fight at Madison Square Garden.”
