Exclusive | Jorge Masvidal sends a strong message to Kamaru Usman!

Jorge Masvidal

After putting together an impressive three fight win streak, which included stoppage victories over Jake Ellenberger and Donald Cerrone, Jorge Masvidal has since suffered back-to-back decision setbacks to former UFC welterweight title challengers Demian Maia and Stephen Thompson.

With that said, “Gamebred” recently decided to take some time off from the sport, this following his loss to “Wonderboy” at UFC 217 this past November in New York.

Masvidal is focused on letting his body heal up from some lingering injuries and is also using the time to expand his MMA knowledge.

Jorge Masvidal recently joined BJ PENN Radio where he sent a strong message to fellow welterweight Kamaru Usman, who had recently accused “Gamebred” of turning down a fight offer.

“That’s when I told the UFC I was willing to compete. I said July or August. I will be ready for whoever they want to throw at me by then. I mean Usman and his manager can say whatever they want, but that’s calling me a coward straight up. Saying that I don’t want to fight, when this is my lively hood, my business! I only fought the number one contender at the time in Demian Maia and then the number two guy at the time in Thompson. Even after that I was heavily considering Till, but I just won’t be physically fit to compete by May.”

Masvidal continued:

“I don’t like people tarnishing my name and using my name to get yourself up. If I was in shape and fight ready and then I called the UFC and said ‘Hey, I want to fight tonight.’ and they replied ‘Ok well we got Usman for you.’ and then I said ‘no’. Well then yeah that’d be turning down a fight, but that’s never happened! I’ve never called the UFC saying I want a fight and then not accepted what they offered. That’s called dodging somebody. Then you can go and talk shit, but until that day happens man, don’t use my name to get your name out there. Keep it tight and the guys your talking to on social media, keep my name out if it you know. I’ve got nothing to do with the bullshit. If Usman can beat Ponzinibbio in May, and the UFC wants to set up a fight with me and Kamaru for July… Well, I’m not discriminating on who catches this next ass whoopin.”
