Former UFC lightweight title challenger Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone will return to the octagon at next weekend’s UFC 206 pay-per-view event when he squares off with Matt Brown in a welterweight bout on the evenings main card.
Since moving up to the 170-pound division, Cerrone has looked amazing going 3-0 while scoring finishes in all three of those contests.
Prior to his bout with Brown, we take a look back at Cerrone’s welterweight debut against fellow “Cowboy” Alex Oliveira in a bout which served as the main event for the ‘UFC Fight Night 83’ fight card in Pittsburgh.
Round one begins and Oliveira connects with a nice right hand to start. Oliveira clinches up and lands two good knees to the body. He presses Cerrone against the fence. Alex is working knees and short shots from the clinch. Cerrone is eventually able to force the break. Oliveira with a shot to the body. Cerrone presses forward and tries to lock up with Alex. Oliveira shakes him off and lands a right hand. Cerrone shoots in and lands a takedown. Donald immediately moves to half guards and quickly presses forward in to full mount. Cerrone rolls and locks up a triangle choke. It is tight and Oliveira is in trouble. It is all over. Oliveira is forced to tap.
