UFC fighter holds new Guinness World Record

By Russell Ess - May 21, 2016

When you think of a UFC fighter holding a spot in the Guinness World Records, you probably would believe it has something to do with mixed martial arts, or some kind of related physical activity.

Not for this UFC featherweight.

Dennis “The Menace” Bermudez set a new Guinness World Record for the “fastest time to drink one litre of lemon juice through a straw.”

Yes, that’s right.

Bermudez set the record on May 17, 2016, in New York, drinking one litre of lemon juice through a straw is 22.75 seconds.

“In my head, I was like, I’ll take a few gulps, it will be too sour, I’ll spit it out, and it will be funny,” Bermudez told MMA Junkie. “We’re all lined up, and they say first one to finish put your hand up, and I’m booking. I’m in it to win it.”

Bermudez actually drank nearly two liters of lemon juice as he smashed the record on his first attempt in 20 seconds, but was disqualified after having some lemon juice left in his bowl. However, that didn’t stop “The Menace” from accomplishing the world record.

“My stomach is on fire, because there’s a liter of lemon juice in my stomach, and I’m super-full at this point,” Bermudez said. “But they had the (record) there, so I’m like, ‘That’s gotta go home.’”
