In 2015, the UFC partnered with the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) in an effort to clean up the sport. Since then, the organization has made a seemingly endless list of PED busts, many of which involved high profile fighters like Jon Jones and Brock Lesnar.
Part of the reason USADA has been so successful in their effort to clean up the UFC is their infamous tendency to show up unannounced and at strange hours to test fighters. While this strategy seems to be effective, however, it’s also led to some tense and awkward interactions between fighters and officials.
There was the time Jake Ellenberger welcomed a USADA rep to his home by sticking the nose of a rifle in their face, for example. There was also the time a USADA rep allegedly watched Tim Kennedy shower. Then, of course, there was the time Team Alpha Male star Teruto “Yashabo” Ishihara claimed a USADA rep looked at “Yashabo Jr.” while he was undergoing a test.
The latest strange interaction between fighter and drug testing official occurred on Sunday night. This time around, the fighter in question was UFC flyweight champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson.
According to a video posted to his official Twitter account, Johnson was enjoying a date night with his wife when USADA called. Apparently, they were unwilling to wait for him to get home, so they agreed to meet him at a nearby convenience store, where he would undergo his tests in the bathroom.
“I just got the call from USADA, they’re looking for the champ,” Johnson said in his video. “I told them I’m at Total Wine, I’m gonna pick up some brew for the [Twitch] stream tonight, so we’ll do a piss test at a convenience store. Let’s see how this goes.”

Do you think USADA should be more considerate when testing fighters, or are there extreme efforts a necessary evil? Sound off, PENN Nation!
