UFC Fight Night 95 Weigh-In Results: Cyborg Makes Weight

By Tom Taylor - September 23, 2016

Early this morning, reigning Invicta featherweight champion Cris “Cyborg” Justino took to the scale to weigh in for her for sophomore UFC effort, a 140-lb. catchweight bout with Swedish striker Lina Lansberg. Despite plenty of doubt to the contrary, the Brazilian made weight, taking full advantage of the bout’s 1-lb. allowance and tipping the scale at 141. This, of course, is a major relief, as Lansberg suggested she would not take the fight if Cyborg failed to make the contracted weight.

This weigh-in success marks the end of a dramatic week for Cyborg, who was still over 160 lbs. on Tuesday, and over 150 lbs. yesterday morning. The Brazilian can now look forward to the real battle, which will occur tomorrow night, in the main event of UFC Fight Night 95, in Brasilia, Brazil.

Lansberg also made weight successfully. Given that the Swede frequently competes at 135 lbs., however, there was little doubt that she’d successfully hit the 140-lb. mark.

Cyborg (16-1) will enter this bout on a spectacular, 16-fight win-streak, which includes triumphs over the likes of Shayna Baszler, Gina Carano, Marloes Coenen (twice), Jan Finney, and most recently, Leslie Smith, who she dominated in her UFC debut. The Brazilian slugger has achieved all but two of her wins by way of KO or TKO.

The much smaller Lansberg (6-1), on the other hand, is currently riding a 6-fight streak, having lost only her MMA debut. Though she will enter this bout grossly outmatched in terms of MMA experience, she has competed in dozens of muay thai bouts, winning multiple titles in the sport in the process.

Weigh-ins for the card’s 12 remaining bouts went off with out a hitch, barring a miss by Michel Prazares, who was two pounds over the lightweight limit.

Former bantamweight champion Renan Barao and his opponent Phillipe Nover both successfully hit 146 for the evening’s featherweight co-main event. Struggling heavyweights Roy Nelson and Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva tipped the scales at 258 and 265 respectively for their main card heavyweight showdown, while lightweights Paul Felder and Francisco Trinaldo both hit the required 155-mark for their lightweight scrap.
