CM Punk will be attending UFC 218 in Detroit
Tom Taylor - November 29, 2017
Last September, CM Punk, a pro wrestling star with essentially zero legitimate martial arts experience, stepped into the UFC’s Octagon for a battle with young prospect Mickey Gall. As so many expected, Punk was blown out of the water by his more experienced foe, losing via first-round submission. While this fight itself was a veritable disaster for Punk, it earned him the respect of many fight fans who had previously doubted him. He clearly had some major deficits in the skill department, but it was also clear that he had heart abound.
Coach Duke Roufus says UFC matchmakers going over CM Punk's next fight
Russell Ess - October 27, 2017
It has been over one year since Phil Brooks, better known as CM Punk made his Octagon debut. It wasn’t the outcome Punk or his coach Duke Roufus was hoping for, but it did serve as experience as the former WWE star’s first professional MMA fight. Now, a little over a year since his debut and with more training under his belt, there are talks of Brooks getting his second UFC fight, according to Roufus.
CM Punk is Training For His Upcoming Return to MMA
Justin Golightly - September 5, 2017
Has Conor McGregor changed things forever? Alistair Overeem may be fighting a heavyweight boxer, Ronda Rousey could be jumping into the wrestling ring, who knows what could be next. It does look like history seems to repeat itself. Fresh off of the heels of McGregor dipping his toes into the boxing ring against Floyd Mayweather, former pro wrestler CM Punk is ready to get back into the Octagon. Duke Roufus shared a picture of UFC lightweight John Makdessi and CM Punk after a training session and announced that both of them are waiting for their fights to be confirmed.

Tom Taylor - July 31, 2017
Duke Roufus serves as the coach of several of the UFC’s top fighters, from UFC welterweight champ Tyron Woodley, who defeated Demian Maia over the weekend, to UFC flyweight contender Sergio Pettis, who takes on Brandon Moreno in the main event of UFC Fight Night 114 this weekend. Roufus also serves as the head MMA coach of former WWE star CM Punk. Punk, of course, lost his lone MMA bout, which occured at UFC 203 last September, quite decisively. Though he showed off plenty of heart, he was tapped very quickly by his foe Mickey Gall.
Michael Bisping blasts "f**king p**sy" Vitor Belfort for CM Punk callout
Tom Taylor - March 22, 2017
Earlier this month, MMA legend Vitor Belfort was mauled by a younger, faster, Kelvin Gastelum. Many fans took this beatdown as a sign that it was time for the aging legend to retire. Belfort himself, however, said he had one more in him. In his post-fight interview, he said he’d like to fulfil the last fight on his contract, ideally at UFC 112 in Rio de Janeiro in June. Belfort also acknowledged that a step down in competition would be nice, which is fair, but then threw the world a bit of a curve ball by calling out CM Punk – a former pro wrestler who was destroyed by Mickey Gall in his only mixed martial arts bout.

VIDEO | WWE fans chant for CM Punk as The Rock tries to get ahold of him via phone call
Russell Ess - February 21, 2017
If CM Punk doesn’t find himself fighting in the UFC Octagon ever again, it sounds like the fans in the WWE would like nothing more than to welcome him back to the professional wrestling ring. Former WWE champion Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson entered the WWE ring after Monday Night Raw was recorded at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. According to Heavy.com, The Rock was in the ring to film a scene for the Fighting With My Family movie that he is producing, which features the Saraya-Jade Bevis, better known as the professional wrestler, Paige. During the filming of the scene, Paige and AJ Lee, who is married to CM Punk put on a match for the filming of the movie. When Lee’s name was mentioned, the crowd started to chant Punk’s name.
Radio host Jason Ellis is campaigning for a fight with CM Punk
Tom Taylor - January 30, 2017
In September of 2016, pro wrestling star CM Punk made his long-awaited first steps into the Octagon against young prospect Mickey Gall. Punk did so with little in the way of martial arts experience – and it showed. Seconds into the first round, he was plowed to the mat by his young foe, where he was brutalized with ground and pound, and ultimately, tied up in a rear-naked choke and forced to tap. Since the disastrous UFC debut, there has been much discussion about Punk’s fighting future. There are those that think the heart he displayed against Gall should earn him another shot in the UFC’s Octagon. There are those who believe that any additional Punk fights should occur in a smaller, less mainstream MMA promotion. There are those that just don’t care. And then there’s radio host Jason Ellis, who has recently been gunning for a fight in the Octagon with the pro wrestling veteran.

Mickey Gall: CM Punk will lose to any "UFC caliber guy"
Tom Taylor - December 14, 2016
This weekend, welterweight prospect Mickey Gall will take on the biggest test of his UFC career – arguably the first real test of his UFC career – in fellow prospect Sage Northcutt. The two young guns will share the co-main event of UFC on Fox 22, which will emanate from sunny Sacramento, California. Gall’s last fight, of course, was a big one, but not a particularly difficult one. On the main card of UFC 203, he served as the MMA welcoming committee for former WWE star CM Punk, who had precisely zero combat sports experience leading into their fight. As expected, Gall dominated his outmatched foe to a first-round submission win.
Coach Duke Roufus says CM Punk may get another fight in the UFC
Russell Ess - December 9, 2016
Both fans and athletes have been very polar on Phil Brooks, better known as the former WWE star, CM Punk, getting his first professional mixed martial arts fight in the UFC. Then on the opposite end of the spectrum, there are those that have welcomed the former WWE star to the Octagon knowing it would bring new fans over to the sport of mixed martial arts.

bjpenndotcom - November 22, 2016
Back at UFC 203 in September, former WWE champion CM Punk made his highly anticipated MMA debut as he stepped into the Octagon on the pay-per view portion of the card against 2-0 Mickey Gall. Punk, who had been signed to the UFC for nearly two years prior to actually stepping into the cage, had been training under famed coach Duke Roufus at Roufusport in Milwaukee alongside the likes of the Pettis brothers, and UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, to name just a few fighters who train at Roufusport.
UFC Veteran Phil Baroni Calls Out CM Punk
Tom Taylor - October 17, 2016
The callouts of WWE veteran CM Punk began just moments after it was announced that he had signed with the UFC. It seemed that half the UFC roster was interested in welcoming the inexperienced 37-year-old to the Octagon, all well-aware of the effect a win over a superstar of his caliber would have on their careers. In the end, of course, the task of welcoming Punk to the Octagon would go to 24-year-old prospect Mickey Gall, who mugged the pro wrestler on the main card of September’s UFC 203. Yet even after Punk’s disastrous UFC debut, the callouts have continued. Though it’s not even known if he’ll be given a second opportunity in the UFC, he still remains high on a number of wish lists.
CM Punk Goes Off on Haters for Personal Attacks
Tom Taylor - October 11, 2016
Last month, former pro wrestling star CM Punk made his long awaited jump into the world of mixed martial arts. He did so against 24-year-old prospect Mickey Gall on the main card of UFC 203. As we now know, of course, Punk’s visit to the Octagon would go down as an absolute disaster. After making a reckless charge across the canvas and whiffing a punch over the top of his foe’s head, he was easily taken down. From there, he was battered and bruised by ground strikes, and ultimately, forced to tap out to a rear-naked choke.
