Fedor Emelianenko picked up a first-round knockout victory over former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir in the headliner of last night’s Bellator 198 event.

“The Last Emperor” was able to catch the dangerous submission specialist, Mir, with a perfectly timed uppercut as Frank was leaning in to a punch.

The strike sent Mir falling face first towards the canvas and Fedor wasted no time jumping on his downed opponent and unleashing some heavy ground and pound which forced the referee to step in and call a stop to the action.

With the victory, Fedor has now won six of his past seven fights overall and will advance to the Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix semifinals where he will take on Chael Sonnen.

“The American Gangster” was in attendance at last night’s Bellator 198 event and decided to confront “The Last Emperor” inside the cage shortly following the Russian’s high profile victory over Mir.

“I think the only thing I hate more than being right here in Chicago is being in this ring with you,” Sonnen stated directing his insults towards Fedor. “And I assure you the next time I am, it will not be for long!”
