Really big for the sport. It would be a great challenge. That’s a big, old boy. I doubt Brock Lesnar would take that fight, though.”

UFC thwarts rumors of Brock Lesnar return

Tom Taylor - July 20, 2017

Last July, in the co-main event of the stacked UFC 200, former UFC heavyweight champion and long-time WWE star Brock Lesnar made a return to the Octagon after a hiatus of many years. He did so against Mark Hunt for a substantial $2.5 million payday. Lesnar would win this fight, relying on his wrestling to capture a dominant unanimous decision win. Unfortunately, he tested positive for the banned substance clomiphene shortly thereafter, and his win over Hunt was overturned.

Paul Heyman not ruling out Brock Lesnar return to MMA

bjpenndotcom - April 1, 2017

In 2016, former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar stepped into the Octagon for the first time in nearly 5 years to fight heavyweight veteran Mark Hunt at UFC 200. Lesnar’s return was one that was quickly criticized after he was given an exemption from the first three months of mandatory USADA testing prior to the fight. While USADA was quick to swoop in and begin testing the former champ at a high frequency, it wasn’t until after the fight that Lesnar was flagged for an anti-doping violation. In addition to his fight night drug test being flagged, Lesnar had a random pre-fight, out-of-competition sample flagged for banned substances as well.

Mark Hunt continues verbal onslaught of Brock Lesnar

bjpenndotcom - March 3, 2017

It has now been nearly eight months since former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and heavyweight veteran Mark Hunt stepped into the Octagon together at UFC 200. In that fight, Lesnar was awarded a unanimous decision win after using his wrestling to take Hunt down repeatedly throughout the course of the three round scrap. Ultimately however, the fight was overturned to a no contest after it was revealed that Lesnar failed both a pre-fight drug test, as well as a fight night drug test.

UFC files to have Mark Hunt's lawsuit thrown out in court

Russell Ess - March 1, 2017

The UFC is looking to have Mark Hunt’s lawsuit against the company and UFC President Dana White thrown out in court. Following the announcement of Brock Lesnar’s failed USADA drug test, Hunt made it known that he wanted to be compensated for fighting another cheating opponent in his UFC career. Hunt first asked for half of Lesnar’s fight purse then changed his mind to demanding Lesnar’s entire fight purse that he received for his fight against Hunt at UFC 200. The UFC did not come through with Hunt’s financial demands and filed a lawsuit against the UFC, Dana White and Brock Lesnar.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar retires from MMA

Tom Taylor - February 15, 2017

Back in July of 2016, in the co-main event of the landmark UFC 200, we watched former heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar step into the Octagon for the first time in some five years. His opponent in this comeback fight was missile-fisted striking specialist Mark Hunt – not an easy fight under normal circumstances, even less so coming off such a sizeable layoff. Despite his long layoff and the skill of his opponent, Lesnar was able to make a successful return, wrestling his dangerous foe to a lopsided unanimous decision win. It was an epic comeback from one of the biggest stars in MMA history.

Russell Ess - February 10, 2017

Bellator heavyweight Bobby Lashley is on an eight-fight winning streak in MMA and also is the current TNA professional wrestling World Heavyweight Champion. With all of his success in mixed martial arts and professional wrestling, Lashley is still gunning for one big opponent. “I want that fight with Brock Lesnar,” said Lashley in a recent interview with Sports Illustrated. “I don’t care if it’s the ring, the cage, or in a street fight.”

Frank Mir hopes to return to the Octagon in 2018, still wants Lesnar trilogy fight

Tom Taylor - January 24, 2017

In April of 2016, it was announced that Frank Mir had been notified of a potential USADA violation, and that he could be facing up to two years on the shelf as a result. In the face of this lengthy suspension, Mir seemed to be seriously considering retirement. In the months since this USADA violation was announced, however, he has changed his tune. In a recent interview with Australia’s Submission Radio, Mir explained that he’s itching to get back to the cage, ideally sometime in early 2018. And while he’ll be closing in on 40 by that point, he still believes he’ll be able to hang with the division’s best. The precedent is there, after all.

Mark Hunt: I didn't know Brock Lesnar was using PEDs before UFC 200

bjpenndotcom - January 21, 2017

Leading up to UFC 200, where former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar made his highly anticipated return to the Octagon after 5 years away from the Octagon, there was quite a bit of controversy regarding Lesnar’s USADA exemption that saw him evade the first several months of random USADA drug testing leading up to the fight. Despite that, Lesnar was tested multiple times between the time it was announced that he would be fighting, and fight night. Following his win over Mark Hunt, it was revealed that Lesnar had failed a pre-fight and a fight night drug test. While he is currently serving a year-long suspension for the infraction, Mark Hunt has been very outspoken regarding the situation, even going as far as to file a civil suit against Lesnar and the UFC over the matter.

Bas Rutten's bold prediction for Brock Lesnar's MMA future

bjpenndotcom - January 13, 2017

In June of 2016, during the UFC 199 broadcast, the UFC announced that former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar would be returning to the Octagon at UFC 200 in July to fight Mark Hunt, nearly 5 years after his last Octagon appearance. At the time of the announcement six months ago, no one could have guessed that the announcement of Lesnar’s return would result in a controversy that would still continue to this day. Leading up to the scrap, Lesnar was given an exemption from the first 3 months of random USADA drug testing. When USADA was able to test Lesnar, they did so numerous times in the span of just a few weeks. While there had been no reports of failed drug tests, it wasn’t until after Lesnar defeated Hunt that it was announced that Lesnar had failed a pre-fight, and fight night, drug test.

If you watched the landmark UFC 200 back in July of 2016, you may have noticed that returning former heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar walked out to the Octagon in a Canadian Reebok fight kit. A quick look at the WWE star’s Wikipedia page, of course, reveals that he was born in South Dakota. He’s as American as apple pie. At least, he used to be. More recently, Lesnar and his family have relocated to a farm in the quiet Canadian prairie town of Maryfield Saskatchewan. Lesnar’s setting up shop in this tiny town – which is home to less than 500 people – is the reason for his walking out in Canadian colors at UFC 200. It’s the also the reason for his on-air appearance during a Monday night Winnipeg Jets NHL broadcast.

USADA hands Brock Lesnar one-year suspension for failed UFC 200 drug tests

Tom Taylor - January 4, 2017

Former UFC heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar really couldn’t have looked any better in his UFC 200 fight against devastating striker Mark Hunt. Considering he hadn’t stepped foot in the Octagon in some five years, his scoring a three-round domination of a legitimate, top-10 foe was truly impressive. Unfortunately, Lesnar had the rug pulled out from under him in the days following the fight, when it was revealed that he’d tested positive for the estrogen blocker clomiphene. After a long legal process that saw Lesnar and his team attempt to blame his failed tests on everything from his foot cream to his eye medication, he was handed a year-long suspension by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. They also fined him $250,000 and overturned his win over Hunt, changing the result to a no-contest.
