Ben Rothwell slams “unprofessional” Fabricio Werdum

By Chris Taylor - September 11, 2016

UFC heavyweight contender “Big” Ben Rothwell was supposed to square off with former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum at last night’s UFC 203 event in Cleveland, Ohio.

Unfortunately for fight fans, Rothwell suffered an injury just weeks ahead of the scheduled bout and was forced to pull out of the contest.

Rothwell was replaced by Hawaiian Travis Browne at UFC 203, who ended up dropping a unanimous decision loss to Werdum yesterday evening.

The setback marked the second time that “Hapa” had lost a decision to Fabricio Werdum in the past 30 months.

Following the bouts conclusion, one of Browne’s coaches Edmund Tarverdyan began yelling at Fabricio for his post-fight actions. Werdum took exception to Tarverdyan’s screaming and decided to give him a front kick to the body which caused all hell to momentarily break loose inside of the cage.

Shortly after the conclusion of the Browne vs. Werdum co-main event bout, Ben Rothwell took to Twitter to voice his disgust with both the “bad” fight as well as Werdum’s “unprofessional” actions:

Fabricio Werdum stated that he hopes to fight for the title in a rematch with Stipe Miocic in his next octagon appearance.

However, UFC President Dana White stated at the UFC 203 post-fight press conference that he didn’t feel that Werdum’s performance against Browne warranted another shot at the heavyweight crown.

With that said, a bout between Ben Rothwell and Fabricio Werdum could be rescheduled in the near future. Would you like to see this match put together by UFC officials? Sound off PENN Nation!
