MMA NEWS – ProElite 3 Results: Grove, McMann Victorious Over Japanese Imports

ProElite made their return to Hawaii tonight with “ProElite 3: Da Spyder vs. Minowaman.”
In the main event Kendall Grove was able to notch his second straight post-UFC victory in a hard fought three-round affair over Japanese legend, Ikuhisa Minowa.
Minowa started out with several low kicks to the lengthy Groves legs, but Kendall’s intensity would not be outdone. Using his range and speed Grove was able to keep his opponent at bay for the majority of the first round. However Minowa secured a late takedown in the opening frame and was able to keep top position until the bell rang.
In the second and third frame of action, Kendall found his groove and was able to use superior striking and grappling to outpoint “Minowaman” to earn a unanimous decision victory.
In the co-main event surging bantamweight fighter, Sara McMann improved her unbeaten streak to five straight. The Olympic silver medalist was able to use her superior wrestling to stay dominant over the much more experienced Hitomi Akano.
From the start of the bout to the end it was Sara who repeatedly slammed her opponent to the mat and maintain top position throughout the course of the three-round affair.
