MMA NEWS – Masvidal Went Into Melendez Fight Injured

Last night a close friend of Jorge Masvidal sent out a photo of the Strikeforce lightweight title challenger getting his arm casted (featured).
In his report he states that Jorge hurt his hand in the first round of his fight last weekend and tried to gut through it. With photo evidence of the American Top Team fighter getting a cast put on his arm post-fight it’s hard to deny his claim.
Today, mmafighting.com dug a bit deeper into the issue of Masvidals injury and spoke to his manager Tina Vidal-Smith to get some more information on the extent of the injury.
She stated that 10 days before his decision loss for the Strikeforce lightweight title Jorge suffered a severe contusion to his right hand but refused to pull out of the fight. He then injured it further once putting the hand to use in the fight with Melendez and incurred sever ligament damage in the fight’s very first round.
She refused to make excuses for her athlete’s loss, but stated that they hope to work their way back into a rematch with the Strikeforce lightweight champion once Masvidal is back to 100% health.
Jorge is expected to be out for 4-6 weeks while recovering from his injury.

First report about ‘him hurting his hand in the first round’ was from his close friend while the second regarding the contusion was from his manager. Two different reports, so I fail to see the error in this article.
Anyways, good luck to Masvidal and his climb back up the ladder. In my opinion he’s right up there with the upper echelons of the lightweight division and he’ll come back from that loss better than ever.
there is no error. I was just being a “wise ass” and took the quote out of context
lolz
