MMA NEWS – Joey Gomez Faces Bob Ostovich For “Just Scrap” Interim Lightweight Title on Jan. 14

A lightweight title fight has been added to “Just Scrap XV” between Joey Gomez and Bob Ostovich.
“We are excited to start the New Year off with such an exciting card,” said “Just Scrap” president JD Penn. “This lightweight fight for the interim title is one the fans will not want to miss. “
“Just Scrap XV” is set to take place in Hilo, Hawaii from the Hilo Civic Auditorium On January 14.
Joey Gomez comes from a long line of fighter’s coming out of The Penn Training and Fitness Center representing Boss MMA. Undefeated at 5-0, the Hilo resident fighter has yet to taste defeat in his young career all while stopping 100% his opponents. With Three submission victories, one KO and one TKO, he looks to claim the “Just Scrap” title this month and take it back to The Penn Training and Fitness Center.
Gomez last saw action under the “Just Scrap” banner in April of 2011 when he took our fellow Mixed Martial Artist, Lawrence Hinojosa via rear naked choke to earn his fifth consecutive victory.
Looking to spoil the championship aspirations of Gomez is Bob Ostovich. With four fights to his credit, the 3-1 fighter last saw action taking out one of Gomez’s teammates, Kaneo Meyers, this past October. Representing Hawaii’s Jesus is Lord Gym; he looks to make a habit out of beating fighters from the Hilo based Boss MMA.
Tickets for the event are available at CD Wizard in Hilo and seating is on a first come first serve basis.
