MMA NEWS – Emelianenko vs. Ishii Set For DREAM Year End Show

Fedor Emelianenko is set to return to Japan.
DREAM officials announced today that they have booked the former PRIDE heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko against Japanese Olympic gold medalist Satoshi Ishii for their annual year-end show.
“DREAM: Fight for Japan. How are you! New Year 2011.” is set to take place on Dec. 31 from the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. The event will air live to the U.S. audience on HDNet.
Emelianenko recently bounced back from a three-fight losing streak this past month when he faced longtime MMA fighter, Jeff Monson on his home soil in Russia under the M-1 global banner. The fight was a hard fought three round affair that saw Emelianenko batter his opponent with a barrage of striking to earn the decision victory. Prior to the win the long-time MMA great took defeat to Fabricio Werdum, Antonio Silva and Dan Henderson.
Ishii is coming off of a draw against Paulo Filho this past September. Prior to the draw he went on a four-fight win streak.
Confirmed bouts for DREAM’s year end show are as follows:
• Fedor Emelianenko vs. Satoshi Ishii
• Champ Shinya Aoki vs. Satoru Kitaoka (for lightweight title)
• Champ Hiroyuki Takaya vs. Takeshi “Lion” Inoue (for featherweight title)
• Tatsuya Kawajiri vs. Kazuyuki Miyata
• Yuichiro Nagashima vs. Katsunori Kikuno (mixed-rules bout)
• Rodolfo Marques Diniz vs. Bibiano Fernandes (bantamweight grand-prix semifinal)
• Antonio Banuelos vs. Masakazu Imanari (bantamweight grand-prix semifinal)
• Hideo Tokoro vs. Yusup Saadulaev (bantamweight grand-prix reserve match)
• Ryo Chonan vs. Hayato Sakurai
• Kazuyuki Fujita vs. Peter Aerts (pro-wrestling match)

WTF….
Fedor needs to get in shape and compete at 205.
I couldn’t agree with you more. Fedor would be a beast at 205.
He reigned with just raw talent and heart. What if he was in phenomenal shape? That’ll be the question I’m afraid that’ll never be answered.
fedor is like bj,,they bth have such natural talent but are lazy…….they coud both be the best ever and unstoppable with just alittle extra hard work….fedr more so cuz after he got in shape the weight would be gone,,fedor vs bones jones….wutttttttt
That’s what I’m saying. I don’t know why BJ didn’t stay at lightweight. He lost to Edgar by points. It’s not like the guy destroyed him. He came in with the wrong game plan for the second fight. No one else is seeing BJ at lightweight. He’s just not as fast as Edgar. BJ needs to come back to 155. Especially with GSP talking about coming down to lightweight. BJ would light him up!
It should be called the end of career show because nobody cares about Fedor’s fights besides his fanboys. Come to the UFC and get your face rearranged!
What a joke, this guy Fedor is fighting is another nobody. I’m going to stop defending Fedor from now on cause he’s nobody now. There have to be better quality opponents than this guy outside of the Zuffa banner. Fedor’s a chump now, I can’t believe he would even sign for this fight. He hasn’t beat anyone legit since 2005 and this guy wont fix that issue.
I believe Fedor can have SOME success in the UFC but it’s obvious that wont happen because Fedors management doesn’t want to diminish Fedors value anymore than it already has. And it looks as though Fedor doesn’t want to fight someone that has a chance to beat him.
Your some fan. ” I’m gunna stop defending fedor from now on cuz he’s nobody now.”
Some fan he is indeed… After seeing Fedor dodging top competition for years and then seeing him get knocked out and submitted by guys that aren’t even elite in the UFC it’s kinda embarrassing… I use to love Fedor and thought he was untouchable then I realized he’s kinda pathetic fighting all these Japanese idiots and no named competitors. Put him in the ring with guys like JDS or Velasquez then you’ll see what really goes down.
lol like a joke, this is more miss than hit.
Good match ups on the card. Always good to see Iron Head Fujita. GO DREAM-U!
Wait Ishii said he wasn’t competing in mma anymore after his draw with Filho I thought? Guess he changed his mind.
