MMA NEWS – Cole vs. Salinas-Jones Added To “Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Masvidal”
A heavyweight fight has been added to the December Strikeforce show in the form of Devin Cole cs. Gabriel Salinas-Jones.
The event, which features many of the Strikeforce stars, takes place on December 17 from the Valley View Casino in San Diego. The main card will air on Showtime and feature a main event between Gilbert Melendez and Jorge Masvidal for the Strikeforce lightweight title.
Cole wasn’t given the easy road to the Strikeforce big show. After dropping back-to-back losses in the promotion to Aaron Rosa and Daniel Cormier he recently earned his first Strikeforce win and snapped the two fight losing streak when he faced off with Shawn Jordan at Strikeforce Challengers 17. It was a much needed win and after a three round affair he was able to earn the win based on the judges’ scorecards.
Salinas-Jones takes on Cole in what will be his second fight for the Strikeforce promotion. He was last seen in action earlier in the year at “Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson” and picked up a third-round submission win over Bryan Humes on the evenings undercard. The win marked his fifth straight.
