MMA NEWS – Boxing Champ Klitschko Interested In Trying MMA

Not professionally, but for fitness and practice.
Here is what the boxing champ told Jim Rome while a guest on his show:
[box_light]“[MMA is] a very tough sport. I don’t think I’m ready to practice it and fight in the cage, I think I’m too old for it, but I have a lot of respect… Because you have to have a lot of abilities. You have to be so multi-functional, you have to be a wrestler, you have to be a good kickboxer, you have to be a good boxer, you have to be with good condition. We can go forever what they have to be to keep winning for a long time and be a champion, consistent champions, it’s very difficult. I don’t want to fight, but I want to try. I want to try the fitness. Just get in an MMA gym and just practice certain things. I used to wrestle, and I did judo when I was younger. As training, as fitness, perfect. Fighting, no.”[/box_light]
Current WBA, IBF, WBO, IBO and Ring Magazine heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko has a slight interest in training Mixed Martial Arts for physical fitness. Although he admits his age would limit his ability to compete in the sport professionally.

He would be great for a training partner.
yeah i agree he would make a great sparring partner for people to work on boxing and getting inside reach.
He has a healthy respect for
The sport I guess he saw the James toney and couture fight
I agree 1981AD and Chris.
MMA gyms would be smart to hire his services!
If I was Overeem I would defo want some input to add to his skill set.
this is the type of mental a professional boxer needs if he wants to translate into mma… like he said, hes to old, but another boxer I mean…. they cant come into it with that, Ima just box em bs… I love boxing though, this guy is a real HW!!
I believe boxing is way ahead when it come to that aspect of the sport. Klitschko or any champon belt holder in boxing would ko any fighter in the UFC if it was boxing only. Obviously he would be taken down easily and submitted or ground & pounded on. When MMA does catch up to boxing’s level of skill & expertise, which it will soon. This will make MMA that much more dominating,
It’s hard to reach that level with your hands unless you devote your time solely to boxing.
he would be great but would never do it,,,he makes more fighting 1 time a year then the highest paid mma fighter makes fightinng 2-4 times a year,,,
War Klitschko! I’d love to see this big man pulling guard in the octagon. I bet he’s got a big meaty **** too.
