MMA NEWS | Belcher Confident On The Ground Against Palhares: “I May Submit Him” | UFC on FOX 3 Coverage

“I’m gonna use my strength, my strategy, not that I can’t grapple, but he can’t really strike that good. It’s a huge advantage for me just by keeping it on the feet. He’s gonna have to get me in one of those situations and I’m not gonna let that happen. Best of luck to him, I don’t think he’s gonna get a hold of me and do anything. I’m a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Some people might be surprised but I’ll give him a nice little run on the ground and may submit him.”
Alan “The Talent” Belcher tells CouchFighter.com that he is ready for a tough test against the fast rising Rousimar Palhares on the UFC on Fox 3 card.
Palhares has made a career out of submitting opponents, but Belcher hasn’t lost a match since 2009 and holds a black belt in BJJ of his own.
Who takes this fight Penn Nation?

Alan I think that your best bet is to take it to the ground. He’s too powerful for you. Good luck.
lol this is the worst advice ever go to the ground with rp and u will get up with only one leg
are you retarded? or have you just not seen palhares fights? im glad belcher is back and maybe he is not that bad on the ground but palhares is quick on the ground and he has alot of strength, belcher would be wise to avoid a grappling match with him
I believe he was being 100% ironic.
He really has no choice but to grapple with RP. Where do you see this fight going after Belcher’s legs get weak from leg kicks?
Will Ferrell, “Your ****in high!” (stepbrothers)
Alan”s best bet is to outbox him and mix it up with leg kicks torwards the end of the 2nd and continue in the 3rd round and back him up torwards the cage all fight..use his reach advantage…other than that WAR PALHAERES he makes me want to see legs ripped off.
LOL i was just about say that. hey palhares you want to show me how to do a knee bar. tears you leg right off
People count out Belcher waaaaaayyyyy too much.
HAHA, ohhhh alan.. Belcher=sick muay thai, palhares= sick bjj.. theres no in between, neither one has much business screwing around in the others specialty
Bahahaha take it to the ground? yeah right! Try to keep it standing Belcher. On the ground Toquinho will rip off one or two limbs…
one of the most under rated fighters out there…i like belchers chances!
if allan could stay heal;thy he would be easily in teh top 5 MW… i could beat bisbitch actually that woiuldl be close fight andf i think very interesting…when allan is in shape he is good..i hope he is recvered welll and walks threw this guy then gets a real top opponent
LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLlllll
Alan is often counted out, but he also runs his mouth a bit too much, great Muay Thai and underrated Jiu-Jitsu but he really shouldn’t go to the ground, I’d rather he test Rousimar standing, but one thing about Belcher is you shouldn’t count him out, a healthy Alan is easily top 10 at Middleweight.
Having said that WAR ROUSIMAR!!!
MOOOOOOOMMMMM!!!!!! ALAN’S BEEN SMOKING CAT POOP AGAAAAAAAIIIIIIIINNN!!!!!!!!
Alan can beat him either way… After his legs get weak from leg kicks? Seriously? Standing or on the ground, Alan is the future middle weight champion…
I like Alan but really MW Champ? LOL Is this before or after Anderson Silva retires? Or is this after Hector Lombard takes his place as champ?
HECTOR will not evem be top 5…he could not even beat bisbitch….alan would kill hector and bisbing….alan does have good chance anderson will retire if he loses to sonnen….and maybe wven if he wins..that why he is taking a long time to fight and getting as many advertising paydays as possible..NIKE..BURGERKING,,AN THE CAR THING
Dude, if you think Hector is a scrub it’s only because you don’t know what you are talking about. He would KO Bisping worse than Hendo did. As for Alan, he’d put up a good fight but would eventually succumb to a TKO.
are u his wife??? and u have ??? after statments,,,,, this (?) is a question mark…u put them after questions,,i think u want this (!!!)
Belcher used to be a fighter, but then he took a Palhares to the knee.
Didn’t Kendall Grove put him to sleep with a D’arce choke? Well then Palhares is gonna put him in the morgue
nah, just the orthopedic surgery department.
Stronger than Palhares? I doubt it the guy is a tank. As for submitting him, that’s just crazy talk….Palhares has one of the best BJJ games in MMA.
segal is bad ass but he not chuck norris lol
