Mike Easton vs. Yves Jabouin Set For UFC on FUEL TV 3

This is an interesting fight to breakdown. Easton looked good in his last fight, not great, but good against a guy who took the fight on just a few weeks’ notice. He is coming into this latest matchup with a seven-fight win streak, but one glance over his resume of wins and it’s nothing all too impressive.

Jabouin on the other hand, may not bring in a big win-streak into this fight, but he brings big fight experience into the cage over Easton. A larger and more impressive resume over better opposition for a longer period of time and you have to give Jabouin the experience factor.

I haven’t really been paying too much attention to Easton, to be honest. I’ve seen his fights, but I thought his last outing was really close. For a guy with the hype he has behind him I was underwhelmed to say the least. I may have had my expectations set to high, but I don’t think so.

For lack of a better term we will call Jabouin a “gatekeeper” in the division. It seems like he can beat the lower tiered talent, but falls short in the upper end and contender range.

The big question is whether or not Easton can break out of the bottom pool, take out his first named and respected opponent and enter into the divisions ranked fighters?

My guess is yes, but not right now.

I keep going back to the Jabouin of 10-years ago. The wrecking machine that was knocking out and submitting everyone in his path and it’s because of this that I think he can do the same to Easton.

Easton may turn out to be a real threat to the division, but he is still unproven against top guys and because of that the safe money has to be considered on Yves.
