Mike Brown Will Put Retirement on Hold to Face Akira Corassani at UFC on FS1

Former WEC featherweight champion, Mike Brown, will be making a return to the Octagon to face Akira Corassani at UFC on FS1 August 17, UFC officials announced yesterday.

Brown (26-8), who has been wrestling the past year with retirement after his last victory, underwent his second neck fusion at the end of last summer.  Since then, he began coaching more and training less at American Top Team in Florida.  Despite the time off, Brown will be coming into this fight riding a two-fight winning streak with decisions over Nam Phan and Daniel Pineda.

Akira Corassani (11-3) is also coming off two wins.  The Ultimate Fighter 14 contestant and semi-finalist is 2-0 in the UFC, with decision wins over Andy Ogle and Robbie Peralta.

UFC on FOX Sports 1-1 will take place at TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.  Headlining the card will be a heavyweight match between Alistair Overeem and Travis Browne.
