It was announced today that Miguel Torres, current UFC 135-pounder and former WEC Bantamweight Champion and has joined “The Blackzilians” under the top athlete management company Authentic Sports Management (ASM). Ranked in the top ten in his division, Torres is the fighter that put the 135-pound weight class on the map. He is a well-rounded combatant with a penchant for finishing his opponents. Known as one of the most intense competitors in the sport, Torres now counts on ASM to help advance his 39-4 record and target the UFC bantamweight belt.

“I’m honored to join Authentic Sports Management and the Blackzilians,” said Torres. “I’m with a good group of people who want to be champions, and not just inside the cage but outside of it, as well. With my tenacity and skills, I fit right in with Team Jaco – all the guys are great and they are going to help me take my game to the next level.”

Miguel Angel Torres, a native of Hammond, Indiana, began his professional career back in 2000. He competed multiple times in the Chicago area, and launched his career with twenty straight victories. During the twenty-fight win streak, Torres was known as a “finisher.” After falling to his first loss, the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt went on another long winning streak, this time, adding another seventeen wins to his tally.

Torres has over 40 official fights on his record. As one of the most experienced competitors in the 135-pound division, he has faced some of the top combatants in his division, including Jeff Bedard, Chase Beebe, Yoshiro Maeda, Manny Tapia, Takeya Mizugaki, Brian Bowles, Joseph Benavidez, Charlie Valencia, Antonio Banuelos, and Demetrious Johnson. His win over Beebe garnered Torres the WEC Bantamweight Championship, a title he defended three times, grabbing “Fight of the Night” honors twice during that streak.

Torres’ first fight under the UFC banner was at UFC 126 in February of 2011, which he won via unanimous decision. He lost to Demetrious Johnson at UFC 130 in May, but is excited to get back on his winning streak against Nick Pace at UFC 139 in San Jose on November 19.
