Miesha Tate Turns Down Idea of Fighting Fallon Fox | UFC NEWS

UFC Women’s Bantamweight Contender went on the record recently on whether or not she’d be willing to fight Fallon Fox, a female fighter who recently came out to admit that she in fact is a transgendered woman. Tate voiced her opinion to ESPN.com:

“I wouldn’t do it,” Tate said, “If there was solid research that proved she’s 100% like a female, then I might consider it. ” She went on, “I have nothing against transgender people. You should live your life however you want. It’s about fighter safety. I wouldn’t feel comfortable getting in with someone who is a woman but developed as a man. I just don’t think it would be safe.”

Tate believes that there is an unfair advantage to a fighter who has developed as a man over many years, and that there may be certain added risks in fighting someone like Fox. What of larger mma organizations? What will they think of someone fighting in a women’s division who was a man for most of their life? There is no doubt a difference in strength and power when men and women are compared, and you consider the difference in natural physique.

When asked if she’d fight Fox, Miesha Tate cannot be bothered, as she is already scheduled to fight Cat Zingano. A fight in which the two will square off for the #1 spot to see who will be next to attempt to dethrone UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey.

The fight takes place next month at The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale on April 13.
