Miesha Tate on a Rousey Rematch: “I’ll rip her face off.” | UFC NEWS
Never one to reserve her criticism toward Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate confidently asserted post-UFC 157 that in a rematch she would “rip her face off.”
In this interview with Ariel Helwani, Tate and her next opponent, Cat Zingano, both assessed Rousey’s performance as expected and unimpressive.
Tate, who succumbed to a Rousey armbar back in March 2012, commented on Ronda’s performance against tough competitor, Liz Carmouche. “She did get a little sloppy there, giving her back up, which is a habit I’ve picked up on,” said Tate. She was referring to Rousey’s persistent attempts to secure Carmouche’s arm with her own legs from a head-and-arm hold, an attack which ultimately allowed Carmouche to spin to Rousey’s back early in the fight.
Tate and Rousey have fought once before, with Rousey winning via armbar. If Tate is able to defeat Zingano, who is by no means an easy opponent, a rematch with the UFC champ seems inevitable.
Who will get the better of this rematch remains to be seen, if it is indeed in the cards. Regardless, we can certainly expect to see some heated verbal exchanges if Tate and Rousey are to face off once more.
Miesha Tate will fight Cat Zingano on April 13 on The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale.
