Michael Bisping: Weidman’s Not ‘The Great White Hope’ That Will Dethrone Anderson Silva | UFC NEWS
“I’m not sold on Chris Weidman. I don’t see what all the fuss is with Chris Weidman. I’ve got nothing against the guy. He beat Demian Maia in the candidate for the worst fight of the year, a lot of people are forgetting that. He looked decent against Mark Munoz, but Mark Munoz looked terrible and I was never sold on him in the first place. So I think everyone in all due respect just needs to calm down on Chris Weidman just because he’s undefeated. He’s undefeated because he’s beaten a bunch of bums. He’s only had about seven fights. I’ve had nearly 30 fights. I’ve been in the UFC when he was still in school probably. So I got nothing against Chris Weidman, but I don’t see him as the Great White Hope that’s going to come in and destroy Anderson Silva. He’s just another middle of the road UFC fighter as far as I’m concerned.”
UFC middleweight contender, Michael Bisping, recently discussed his thoughts on fellow middleweight, Chris Weidman with the MMaFightCorner.
Weidman has been elevated to number one contender status by the majority of MMA fans and as a result, Weidman and some of the UFC brass back his shot at the middleweight title. However, Bisping is not sold, but is he right?

I got to love Bisping for some of the shit he says. He don’t hold back nothing. “Great White Hope” is correct. Chael was the first one now it’s Weidman. Bisping doesn’t get to be the “Great White Hope” because he’s not from the US. If lightening strikes and Bonnar wins or puts up a fight like Chael did he’ll be the new “Great White Hope” to take Anderson’s middle wright title. That by the way won’t be on the line in their up in coming fight.

Beating Maia by a controversial split decision in a horrible fight and beating an out of shape, pudgy Mark Munoz is simply not enough to earn that spot. Whineman needs to fight at least one real topcontender before even thinking of fighting the best one out there.
I couldn’t have said it any better. I think Weidman gets taken out if he ever fights any of those Middleweights from the Ultimate Fighter Brazil. That fight with Damian Maia was the worst I have ever seen. Thank god Maia moved down to 170, he looked much better there. Ah now i’m rambling.. I couldn’t agree more.
