Michael Bisping and Costa Philippou Possible for Fall Fight in Manchester

By Christopher Murphy @MurphMMA

It was announced Tuesday night on Fuel TV’s ‘UFC Tonight’ that the camps of Michael Bisping and Constantinos Philippou are both interested in making a fight happen between the two middleweight fighters in Manchest, England this fall.

A number of 185-lb. fighters have expressed interest in welcoming Bisping back to the Octagon, including two former Strikeforce middleweight champions, Luke Rockhold and Cung Le.

Bisping’s last fight in the cage saw a unanimous decision victory over Alan Belcher, but following the fight ‘The Count’ needed to have surgery to repair a detached retina. The fight with Belcher marked his first fight since losing a title-contention bout against Vitor Belfort in January.

Costas Philippou has won five of his last fights, two via T/KO. He was slated to face Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza last May, but a laceration to his face forced Philippou to withdraw.

The bout itself and the date of the event in Manchester have not been confirmed by the UFC at this time.

Bisping knows all he has to do is keep from getting KO’d in England and he can STEAL another Hamill type decision.

This is a great match! Bisping is gonna show he’s got takedowns if he has a hard time with Philippous boxing.
