Melvin Guillard Explains Move to American Top Team
UFC lightweight fighter Melivn Guillard has changed training camps a number of times, the most recent move landing Guillard in Florida with the American Top Team. This move, which saw Guillard departing from the Grudge Training Center in Colorado, put Guillard with ATT with a little more than one month to finish preparing for his October 26 bout against Ross Pearson at UFC Fight Night 30.

In September, Melvin Guillard departed from the Grudge Training Center in Colorado to the American Top Team camp in Florida. This is Guillard’s fourth high-profile camp in recent years – the UFC fighter having represented Jackson’s MMA and the Blackzilian team in past fights.
Ariel Helwani recently disclosed some details about Guillard’s most recent move.
“Remember, we all thought [Guillard] had found a home after his great KO of Mac Danzig in July. He had trained for that fight with the Grudge Training Center after bouncing around for quite some time, gym to gym. We thought, ‘This is great. He looks good coming out of that camp.’ Shortly thereafter he changed camps again. He’s now training out of the American Top Team gym and he lives around that area (Coconunt Creek, Florida).
“He told me he left Grudge, because, basically they couldn’t come to an agreement about how much he owes them. They had a disagreement about the percentage that he had to pay them. They gave him an ultimatum, he said ‘goodbye,’ and now he’s training at ATT. He said he is not moving again. This is his home for life. ATT it is.”
Guillard will get to put his new training to the test Saturday at UFC Fight Night 30: Machida vs. Munoz, as he will take on Ross Pearson as the co-main event of the evening.
UFC Fight Night 30 takes place in Manchester, England. The preliminary card begins streaming online at 12pm/9am ETPT, and the main card will air live on FOX Sports 2 at 3pm/12pm ETPT.
